Women’s Health on PEI

Case Study: Rapid Content Production for “Women’s Health on PEI”

This case study examines how Gale Force Wins produced a significant volume of video content within a three-month timeframe to highlight women’s health issues on Prince Edward Island. While the sources do not explicitly define the formal “Gale Force Wins Content Creation Technique” by name, the observable patterns in the “Women’s Health on PEI” playlist provide a clear blueprint of their high-output methodology.

1. High-Volume Output and Timeline

Gale Force Wins successfully produced and published a playlist containing 17 videos focused on a single thematic area. This entire body of work was released over a three-month period, with updates as recently as one month ago.

2. Strategic Content Structuring

The sources suggest a technique centered on maximizing output from a series of high-level interviews. This is evidenced by two distinct styles of video within the playlist:

  • “Change” Highlights: A series of short-form videos (ranging from 30 seconds to 1 minute and 21 seconds) titled “Women’s Health on PEI: Change”. These clips feature specific individuals like Jenn Redmond, Hannah Fong, and Dr. Meaghan Cameron, focusing on concise, impactful messaging.
  • Full-Length Interviews: More in-depth segments ranging from 4 to 11 minutes, featuring detailed discussions with figures such as Jennifer Gillivan (10:16), Premier Rob Lantz (5:59), and Matthew Macfarlane (11:30).

3. Diverse Stakeholder Engagement

The technique involves capturing a wide variety of perspectives in a condensed window to create a comprehensive narrative. The featured participants include:

  • Political Leaders: Premier Rob Lantz, Robert Mitchell, and Matthew Macfarlane.
  • Medical Experts: Dr. Trina Stewart, Dr. Maria Migas, and Dr. Meaghan Cameron.
  • Community and Business Leaders: Jennifer Gillivan, Roxanne Carter-Thompson, and Mary Robinson.

4. Inferred Technique Efficiency

Based on the metadata in the sources, the “Gale Force Wins Technique” appears to rely on repurposing and modular content:

  • Batching Interviews: The rapid succession of uploads featuring different speakers suggests interviews may have been conducted in focused sessions or at a specific event.
  • Micro-Content Creation: By extracting 30-second “Change” clips from what were likely longer conversations, the team multiplied their total video count, creating “Shorts”-style content that is easily digestible for social media.

Conclusion: Through the strategic use of short-form “Change” clips and comprehensive long-form interviews, Gale Force Wins was able to build a robust 17-video library in just 90 days, effectively saturating the digital space with diverse perspectives on PEI women’s health.

CSS Asterix Media Campaign

Case Study: Gale Force Wins’ Strategic Content Shift for CSS Asterix

Overview

The CSS Asterix media campaign represented a significant deviation from Gale Force Wins’ (GFW) regular “conference Content Creation Technique.” Typically focused on capturing live content and interviews during events, GFW transitioned into a specialized production role to support Federal Fleet Services in a high-stakes strategic objective of increasing awareness among NATO allies.

The Departure from Standard Technique

Gale Force Wins usually relies on its established conference-based content model. However, for this series, the process shifted toward curated production and asset integration:

  • Asset Utilization: Instead of generating entirely new footage through live event coverage, GFW was tasked with synthesizing content from existing Gale Force Wins b-roll and Federal Fleet’s own video library.
  • Strategic Integration: Unlike standalone event videos, this series was part of a broader campaign integrating government relations with social and traditional media to influence specific decision-makers.
  • Targeted Delivery: The strategy moved beyond general audience engagement to include geo-fencing capabilities, specifically designed to target government personnel with authentic storytelling.

Key Campaign Themes

The content was designed to move away from simple reporting and toward a focused narrative on readiness, endurance, and reliability. The storytelling emphasized specific strategic advantages of the CSS Asterix, including:

  • Cost-Effectiveness: Highlighting over $2 billion saved and the ship’s proven performance during its first decade.
  • Operational Versatility: Showcasing the ship’s role in the Arctic, its sea replenishment skills, and its support for Royal Canadian Navy operations worldwide.
  • Innovation and Training: Focusing on new training capabilities for cadets and supporting missions ranging from humanitarian assistance to innovation.

The Resulting Media Suite

The departure from their usual technique resulted in a seven-video playlist titled “Asterix – more than a naval tanker—supporting missions from humanitarian assistance to innovation.” The series includes:

  1. ASTERIX Next Decade Ready
  2. ASTERIX Versatile and Reliable
  3. ASTERIX First Decade Proven Next Decade Ready
  4. ASTERIX Proven in all Conditions
  5. ASTERIX $2 Billion + saved
  6. ASTERIX Protecting Sovereignty Delivering Results
  7. MERCHANT NAVY & ASTERIX

Conclusion

By pivoting from their standard conference-centric model to a production-heavy, strategically targeted campaign, Gale Force Wins successfully leveraged existing assets to create a narrative-driven series. This approach allowed them to support Federal Fleet Services’ specific goal of demonstrating that the CSS Asterix is not just a tanker, but a critical component of national and international maritime security.

Women Building Atlantic Canada

Case Study: Dismantling Systemic Barriers in Atlantic Canada’s Construction Sector

The Challenge: A Workforce at a Crossroads

The construction industry in Atlantic Canada is currently grappling with unprecedented labor shortages fueled by an aging workforce and a massive surge in demand for housing and infrastructure projects. Despite women making up 47% of the general workforce, they represent only 13% to 14% of the construction workforce in Canada. Research indicates this gap is not a matter of ability but is deeply rooted in issues of access, workplace culture, and retention.

The Initiative: The Women Building Atlantic Canada Summit

To address these challenges, the Newfoundland and Labrador Construction Association (NLCA) hosted the WBAC Summit to explore practical workforce solutions and advance gender equity. The event brought together female entrepreneurs, executives, and government leaders—including the Honorable Barry Petten—to identify the systemic barriers that cause women to exit the industry prematurely.

Key Insights: Identifying the “Exit Accelerators”

The summit revealed several critical barriers that recruitment efforts alone cannot solve:

  • Safety Beyond the Technical: While technical safety is prioritized, there is a lack of social-emotional safety for women on job sites.
  • The “Pink it and Shrink it” Fallacy: Protective equipment (PPE) is often designed for men and simply reduced in size, which fails to account for different body types and can create actual health and safety hazards.
  • Infrastructure Gaps: A lack of clean, dedicated facilities—such as bathrooms designed for the needs of women—remains a major job site deterrent.
  • The Culture of the “Boys’ Club”: Women often feel intimidated in boardrooms and on-site, frequently dealing with unconscious bias and a lack of promotional opportunities despite their qualifications.

The Solution: The Inclusion Blueprint

Based on these findings, an Inclusion Blueprint was developed to provide employers with a roadmap for measurable outcomes:

  1. Cultivating Safe Job Site Cultures: Moving beyond sponsorship logos to ensure women are given actual leadership roles and that social-emotional safety is treated as a core business value.
  2. Intentional Networking and Mentorship: Facilitating networks to help women overcome imposter syndrome and find their voice in male-dominated spaces.
  3. Robust HR Frameworks: Ensuring small and medium-sized firms have access to professional HR support to implement clear policies regarding discrimination and harassment.
  4. Wraparound Retention Supports: Implementing practical supports such as childcare, flexible work arrangements, and clear leadership pathways to retain experienced women.

Impact and Future Outlook

The summit was completely sold out, signaling a high industry demand for these conversations. The provincial government has also begun integrating these goals into public policy, such as requiring local community benefits agreements and a minimum of 10% apprentices on major projects to ensure underrepresented groups are prioritized.

As industry leader Tonya Whittle noted, the goal is to shift the industry from a space where women have to “kick doors in” to one that is ready to welcome and retain them. The Inclusion Blueprint serves as the foundational document for this cultural shift, ensuring that Atlantic Canada builds a stronger, more sustainable construction sector by utilizing 100% of its available talent.

The Big Raise for Health Care

Case Study

The Health Care Foundation, in partnership with Gale Force Wins, set out to highlight the transformative power of community philanthropy through “The Big Raise,” an annual event dedicated to modernizing healthcare in Newfoundland and Labrador. By capturing the perspectives of government leaders, healthcare executives, and frontline physicians, they aimed to show how collective action accelerates the arrival of life-saving technology.

“You cannot touch without being touched… we’re here to help ensure our doctors and healthcare professionals can offer the best health-enhancing and health-saving care.” — David Jones, Chair of the Board of Directors, Health Care Foundation.

Objectives

Gale Force Wins was tasked to capture the narrative of “The Big Raise 2026,” documenting the impact of previous fundraising successes while highlighting the urgent need for a new MRI at the ambulatory urgent care facility. The goal was to articulate a clear “patient pathway”—from faster diagnosis to more efficient recovery—driven by community generosity.

Solution

Planning

Gale Force Wins collaborated with the Health Care Foundation and NL Health Services to identify the key voices that represent the full spectrum of care. They mapped out a strategy to interview the Minister of Health, the CEO of NL Health Services, and clinical leads in surgery and emergency medicine to ensure the “Big Raise” story reflected both high-level policy goals and real-world clinical benefits.

Process

The production team conducted intimate and insightful interviews during the event, capturing the energy of 280 community members gathered to support the cause. They documented the success of the Da Vinci robot, which has already facilitated 300 successful cancer operations and enabled same-day outpatient surgeries.

By interviewing Dr. Dick Barter and Dr. Angela Bussey, they highlighted the clinical urgency of the new MRI project, explaining how it will allow primary care providers to refer patients directly, cutting weeks off the wait for diagnosis. Through the words of Minister Lela Evans and CEO Paul Snow, Gale Force Wins wove together a narrative of “win-win-win” partnerships, demonstrating that when the community invests in technology, it transforms the delivery of healthcare for every citizen in the province.
